Anything caught Gamzee's eyes. Anything from the sky, to a tree, to the wall, to a poster advertising for a human fighting competition on Saturday. Anything got him curious, from the bubbles in his favorite drink, to how grubloaf sprang out of the toaster, to what actually went on in those fighting rings. But he very rarely wanted anything, and he was sure that he wanted the human he had just saw fight as a pet. It wasn't like he didn't have ridiculous amounts of money from his inheritance either. As an indigoblood, he had a very liberal allowance, and he rarely spent it on anything that cost more than a dollar or two. So, at the end of the match, he approached the master of the ring to talk prices. He spoke to her at length, learning that the human, Dave, had no owner and so belonged to the ring alone. The master of the ring was a navyblood, giving him a leg up in negotiations, and eventually he had a deal made. He was taken to see his new pet. The navyblood opened the cell, and Gamzee stepped inside the cage.

Dave huddled in the corner of his cage, shades off as he worked on repairing them. He had just put the finishing touches when he heard the door to his cell click open and looked up, red eyes wide with alarm. He quickly shoved on his shades, hiding that, and got to his feet. He had a nasty bruise on his cheek and a scratch down one arm, but besides that, all of his scars and bruises were old. He looked over the indigo blood before him, wondering what was going on. Then he realized. It had been so long, he had given up hope that he'd ever get out of the fights.

Gamzee grinned maybe a little too widely at the human and nodded at the ringmaster (haha, he found that way funnier than it was), dismissing her. He looked at Dave as she left and looked his new pet over. "Hey there, my most pink-fleshed of hornless motherfuckers, what's all going down with you? I just bought up and am gonna be taking you real soon." His voice sounded heavy and light all at once, completely casual, completely out of it.

Dave looked at the troll, nodding stiffly. Maybe this would be better. Maybe he'd have a better chance at escape. He'd probably also have a better chance at survival. "Alright." he said. He knew that, the higher the blood color, the more violent the troll, but this guy didn't seem violent at all.

He pulled out the leash that the ringmaster had given him and moved forward, clipping it on. "Aight, Davi, yeah?" oh the joys of only reading the human's name on the scoreboard and the papers he'd had to fill out,, "The name's Gamzee Makara." He offered a huge, dopey smile.

Dave allowed the leash to be clipped on himself. He didn't want to make any trouble for himself. That'd get him nowhere. "It's Dave." he said. "Dave Strider." He met the other's eyes, showing no fear.

Gamzee laughed warmly. "Aight, then. Dave Strider. Now let's get both our asses out of here, yeah?" He tugged on the leash and started walking out of the ring.

Dave grit his teeth, forcing himself to not lash out. He walked out, obedient, a good little pet. He didn't want to get in trouble the first few minutes with a new owner. He didn't want to go back to the fights.
